It is best to use care and caution when scanning very old images. In the case of photographs that may be broken, or nearly broken, you should set a paper shim around the edges of the scanner lid to keep it from breaking the photograph the rest of the way. Other than that, it is also important to make sure that the photo is dust and debris free by VERY gently and carefully dusting the image or document, better if you can remove the debris without dragging it across the photo.

You can either scan the images to your hard drive or a computer disc, or transfer the images from your digital camera to your hard drive or a computer disc.

If you do not have a scanner, there  are several options for you to use. Places such as Kinkos or Office Depot can scan your images for you. Just be sure to let them know that they need to be scanned for 8x10 output at 300dpi and save it to a computer disc at a JPEG highest quality setting , RGB, PC format
